What this check measures
The check asks 21 quick questions and takes about five minutes. It gives you two scores out of 100, your top three fixes and the funding programs you are likely to qualify for.
The cyber score is based on the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security’s Baseline Cyber Security Controls for Small and Medium Organizations, the federal government’s own starting list for businesses like yours. The AI-readiness score follows BDC’s six-step AI checklist. Using public Canadian sources means you can check the reasoning yourself.
It is written for owners and managers of small and mid-sized businesses, not IT specialists. If a question uses a term you do not know, that is useful to learn too: it often points to one of your top fixes.
