What you get
What a app project includes
One app, quoted as one project, from the first sketch to the listing in both stores and the updates after.
Consultation and planning
We work out who the app is for, what it must do on day one, and whether an app or a mobile website is the better buy. We will tell you if it is the website.
App design
Screens designed for thumbs, following Apple and Google design rules, tested as a clickable prototype before a line of code is written.
iPhone and Android build
One cross-platform codebase for both phones, with native code for the camera, location, Bluetooth or payments when the app needs it.
Backend and integrations
Accounts, a database and an admin panel your staff can use, connected to your booking, payment or business systems.
Notifications and payments
Push notifications, in-app purchases and subscriptions, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Stripe, set up and tested.
App Store and Google Play launch
Store listings, screenshots, privacy details and review handled for you, then updates for every new iOS and Android release.
How it runs
How a app project runs
Four stages with a fixed scope, and you hold a test version on your own phone long before launch.
Plan the app
Goals, users and the features for version one agreed, with the rest kept on a list for later.
Prototype
A clickable design you can try on your phone and show to customers before the build starts.
Build and test
Working builds sent to your phone through TestFlight and Google Play testing every week or two.
Launch and maintain
Submission to both stores, launch support, then updates, fixes and new OS versions under a care plan.
Symptoms
Why so many business apps get deleted
The app stores are full of apps that worked on launch day. These are the problems we see most.
- Built for iPhone only, so half your customers miss out
- Rejected by Apple review with nobody to fix it
- Slow to open and drains the battery
- Breaks after the yearly iOS or Android update
- Forgets the login every time
- No admin panel, so every change needs the developer
- Push notifications that spam instead of help
- The developer disappeared and nobody has the code
The difference
A cheap app versus one built to last
An app is not finished at launch. Apple and Google change the rules every year, and someone has to keep it working.
| Cheapest quote | Built for the business | |
|---|---|---|
| Platforms | Often iPhone or Android only | Both, from one codebase |
| App review | Your problem after delivery | We submit and handle feedback |
| Store accounts | Under the developer’s name | Under your own business |
| OS updates | Breaks, then a new quote | Covered by the care plan |
| Changing content | Developer needed for everything | Your staff, from an admin panel |
| The code | Hard to get hold of | Yours, handed over in full |

Questions
App questions we get asked
How much does an app cost?
It depends on the features, the backend and how many systems it connects to. We scope it with you and give a fixed price before work starts. Sometimes a fast mobile website does the job for much less, and we will say so.
How long does it take to build an app?
A focused first version is typically eight to sixteen weeks, plus a few days to a couple of weeks for Apple and Google review. You test it on your own phone throughout.
Do you build for both iPhone and Android?
Yes. We normally build one cross-platform app that runs on both, which keeps cost and upkeep down, and add native code where a feature needs it.
Will you publish it to the App Store and Google Play?
Yes. We set up the listings, screenshots and privacy details, submit the app, and deal with any review feedback. It is published under your own developer accounts, so it stays yours.
Who owns the app?
You do: the source code, the data, the backend and both store listings. If you ever change developer you take everything with you.
What happens when Apple or Google release a new version?
Under a care plan we test the app against each new iOS and Android release, fix what needs fixing and keep it compliant with the store rules, so it does not quietly break.
Next step
Let’s talk about your app idea.
Tell us what the app should do and who it is for. We will tell you plainly whether an app is the right buy, what version one should include, and what it will cost. Nothing owed afterwards.
